This Los Feliz Hillside home was one of our favorite challenges! The homeowners wanted a two story addition to their home to create a first floor family room with walk-out patio and a second floor master suite with walk-out deck. Because the home is built on a hill, this was a project that required careful engineering and planning. We had limited access points to the backyard so we actually “boomed in” a tractor, using a crane to it lift it up and over the house, to excavate the hillside.

The end result added approximately 700 square feet to this modern home. The master suite included a bedroom, bath and spacious walk-in closet. In the bedroom, we custom-built a headboard and built-in nightstand using zebra wood that gave the bedroom character and warmth. The spacious deck gave the homeowners access to spectacular city views! And a curved concrete bench and fireplace created a comfortable entertaining space for family and friends.
